ABOUT UNITED WAY

United, we can end poverty

We fight local poverty by supporting the people impacted by it and the neighbourhoods they live in. We do this by building and strengthening a network of 300 agencies across Peel, Toronto and York Region. As our community faces challenges including an affordable housing crisis, rising food insecurity and increasing mental health struggles, we continue working to connect 2 million residents to the services they need. We invest in more than 650 programs in our communities to help meet urgent needs, like delivering food baskets and warm meals, providing shelter and access to affordable housing, and connecting people to emergency helplines and counselling. We fund organizations embedded in community, partner across sectors on innovative local initiatives, conduct groundbreaking research on how poverty is affecting our region, and lead on advocacy around the issues residents care about.
